Live Document Collaboration

Real-time co-editing of documents within DekkoCORE.

Live document collaboration is supported for modern Office files (DOCX, XLSX and PPTX). Legacy formats such as DOC, XLS and PPT are not supported.

Sharing for document collaboration

To establish a live document collaboration with other users, the file(s) must be shared with Editor or Full permissions.

Sharing dialog with three users listed; John and Deb Johnson have Editor and Full permissions highlighted, while Emily Moss is View only.

Opening and editing documents

To edit a document, select it and then press [Edit].

File list with one file selected; an arrow points to the Edit button beside Deselect and View.

The Office editor is suitable for typical document editing activities:

Office editor showing the Home tab with a report header: a club-style crest logo beside "Balham Grande Area Police Force" and the date 01/01/2023.
Spreadsheet editor showing the Green tab of Project B tracking chart.xlsx, with the formula bar displaying an IFERROR milestone formula in cell M30.

Audit and versioning

File editing events are logged in the file's audit each time a user who has made changes exits the editor:

Audit log dialog titled "History of Report # RR4-7189.docx", showing Logs tab with date, event and user columns, and an Export button.

File versions are captured after 10 seconds of idle time following a change while the editor is open:

Dialog titled "History of Report # RR4-7189.docx" on the File history tab, showing a date-range filter and a list of prior versions with upload date, uploader and download links.

The audit log and file history can be accessed via the details panel:

File list with a row's overflow menu open, showing the Details option highlighted by an arrow.
